Matching Endowment Grant Opportunity for Horses, Donkeys and Mules
Now is the time to see your donation doubled and make sure funds are set aside to help horses into the future!
In response to evident need in our community, the Equine Protection Fund has been given an amazing opportunity by a generous and committed APNM donor; a $50,000 dollar-for-dollar matching endowment challenge grant to make sure horses, donkeys and mules are provided for into the future. We are working diligently to match this grant, which is housed at the New Mexico Community Foundation, in the timeframe required and we hope you will consider supporting this effort with a generous contribution before time runs out December 31, 2015.
The only way to prevent suffering of equines is to support and build upon existing "safety net" programs which ensure feed, veterinary care, adoption for needy horses, and humane euthanasia when homes are not available The Equine Fund, New Mexico’s safety net for hungry and abused horses, donkeys and mules provides such programs now and with the newly formed Help Our Horses Endowment you can rest assured these programs will be available for neglected equines into the future.
The Equine Fund is the state’s only comprehensive equine welfare assistance program addressing the needs of New Mexico’s horses, donkeys and mules and the people who care about them. The Fund continues to draw notice for its innovative programs and since 2010 has helped 650 equines through these life-saving programs:
- Emergency Feed Assistance
- Gelding assistance for stallions, colts and jacks preventing unwanted births
- Providing life-saving veterinary care to equines relieved from situations of neglect or abuse
- Giving humane and compassionate end-of-life treatment for suffering equines
The Equine Fund continues to grow in its mission to provide solutions we can all support, such as building a safety net for equines now and into the future. We are dedicated to providing a better life for horses, donkeys and mules across the great state of New Mexico. Comprehensive equine welfare has to be in the interest of all living in New Mexico, so all equines can live out their lives with dignity.
